IT'S ALIVE!!!

And another image intensive post...~just got back from Phoenix again and Titus..~some shootin' and ridin'. Good trip.. lots of fun.. got to play with the argon ti-welder apparatus thingamajig. Not sure what it was called but it only hurts a little..

Sam Davis.. ~one of the best Ti welders in the business..they call it "stackin' dimes." It takes mad skilz to lay down sweet ti welds like this...and when he's not creating perfection, he's goofing off and riding one handed wheelies through the rest of the shop..He's the man you want building your new ti bike.

Some desert Pics...everyone here is a Titus employee..and for most of them, it's not only a job.. but a way of life. Most of these guys will be in the final catalog which I'll post a link to soon. It went to print the other day, and looks fantastic. The website will be redone soon also.

Switchin' Seasons

It's been feelin' like fall and campin' time, so I thought I'd post 3 or 4 pics that remind me of what I've been missing this year. The colors are already goin' off in the mt's, ~a week away from peaking. Storms are already rolling through the valleys and leaving snow in the peaks.

Being back in school at CU is fantastic, but it sure gets in the way of what's important -bein' outside! (jk... but seriously;) Last 2 falls we've backpacked 8 miles into a certain unmentionable hotspring that, according to my watch, is 102-106 degrees.. at 11,200 feet, with 13er's and 14er's towering above! It's an alpine Shangri-la, but it doesn't look like I'm going to get up there this year. Nuka probably couldn't make it in now anyways. It seems 3-4 miles is all he's up for these days unless I set up an aspirin IV.

It could be September, 6 months a year, and I'd be happy.. especially if the other 6 were all powder days and high water for 'yakin..

Jellystone and Big Sky

During the break in school I got to go up to Big Sky with my friend Amanda.. She is a PA, and had a wilderness medical conference up there.. so I got to go while the hospital she works for schlepped the bill.. I got to ride everyday at the resort, which helped for the Ultra 100, while she took seminars in the a.m. It was such a good trip.. Montana, or 'Montucky' as I like to call it, is an amazing place... ~got to love an area where you literally can see a moose or a grizzly bear on the trail.. and there are natural hot tubs everywhere.

One of the days, we drove down to Jellystone... it was a qwik trip but lots of fun. Took lots of pics in about 9hrs.. if I had one week, I could probably find some amazing stuff to point a lens at..

I'm going to head back up later in Sept. to shoot Website pics for a friend's Flyfishing ranch; http://yellowstonevalleyranch.com/, so I'll have some more time to tool around the Park with less people around..

06 Ultra 100

This should've been the first post I created b/c it happened a couple weeks ago; I did the Ultra 100 mt bike race in Beaver Creek this season and last. They had been the first times I've raced a bike in a number of years. Last year I got 13th in the 100k race on my 32 lb Cannondale clunker and this year I was determined to do better, which I did! 5th place overall, and 2nd in the expert/pro division..The new pimp rig from Titus helped alot..plus I trained my ass off.. but there's still room to get faster. I think next year I'll dust off the cleats and do a few more races..

The top pic is one my most excellent support crewmember, Elizabeth "the hammer" Pike took as I rounded the last corner of the 3 lap race.. I did the photoshoppin'

The rest are good friends from Vail.. Ben, my old roomate, and I chattin' during a brief moment when there weren't throngs of women hanging around Ben; Jake and Linda Wells ( Jake tore up the 100 mile race with a 4th place overall as a pro) and the last pic is Matti and Dougy-fresh doin' the chip exchange, who did the 100 mile as a team.. they did pretty well too..

Titus/MaxM

I got to do some photo work for Titus bicycles/ MaxM bicycle components this summer for their websites and catalog. They haven't redone their sites yet, but I think soon. Here are just a few of the riding pix that came out well.. these are pixelated, compressed versions.. but you get the idea..The originals are like butta'. I also shot a bunch of their shop, assembly, and welding operations... all told, several hundred images. Titus is a very high quality and well run organization. It was a great experience and I think it'll lead to more work in the future..and a sweet quiver of machines in the garage..

Most of the shots here are from Phoenix and Sedona... with 2 local pics of the Chipolte-Titus master's racing team.. ~ a bunch of rippin' guys, and a few fast gals, on mt. bikes.. Great blog for these guys and one of the reasons I started this one. Chekitowt;
